Waldweg Innerferrera

Through meadows and a mystical forest, you reach the highlight of the hike, the suspension bridge, which is 70m long and spans the Ragn da Ferrera. Then it goes on the Alte Averserstrasse, or Walserweg, back to the starting point in Innerferrera. The hike can be combined with a visit to the Mining Museum and/or the Alpenrose restaurant in the village square of Innerferrera. The history of Ferrera: The municipality of Ferrera was first mentioned in a document in 1204. The Romanesque name (Calantgil) can be derived from the Latin word "caniculus", which means tunnel or shaft. This name also indicates the importance of mining iron, copper, lead and silver. Around 1920, manganese was mined on Starlera for the last time. Since then, the mining of mineral resources has been suspended, and the entrances to the mining tunnels and mines can still be seen today. The Association of Ore Mines on the Hinterrhein ensures that these stories are preserved with the Mining Museum in Innerferrera and with various mining excursions.
