As part of this year's winter concerts, the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden will present a new work by the German composer Andreas N. Tarkmann entitled "Viva la mamma – mothers in opera". The cycle, consisting of newly arranged opera arias, is dedicated to the role of the mother in the opera. The internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Maria Riccarda Wesseling embodies the central mother figure and is accompanied by the Kammerphilharmonie under the direction of Philippe Bach.

From Verdi and Puccini to Tchaikovsky and Richard Strauss, Tarkmann's cycle offers a special opportunity to experience famous mother figures from opera history in a new musical light.

Maria Riccarda Wesseling is at home on many stages. Born in Wattwil, the Swiss-Dutch mezzo-soprano also performs in concert in addition to her international opera activities and has been successfully directing music theatre since 2018.
