The water was drained through a tunnel
The emptying of the lake envisaged the construction of a tunnel at the level of the new lake level up to near the shoreline of the water. In addition, a shaft was to be constructed with sufficient distance to the lake shore and a ditch between the shaft and the lake, which could then drain the water from the lake via the tunnel (Fig. 2).
To prevent the risk of erosion, the tunnel and vertical shaft as well as the trench to be excavated to the lake were solidly lined with wood. Despite inaccurate and dangerous construction work, the tunnel was successfully built and the water from the lake could be drained away (Fig. 1).

The new water pipe was laid through the former tunnel (Fig. 3). In winter, the water required for technical snowmaking is drawn off through the new pipe (Fig. 4).
Some concrete rings of the former tunnel will soon be set up for visitors (Fig. 5).
