Segantini 21: Lai Tigiel

Quote from Giovanni Segantini's diary: "However, I spent many a summer high [...]. It was here that I studied nature most deeply in its most vivid forms and in its brightest colors. It was here that I wrote my first letters about art."

In 1994 he painted the painting "The Evil Mothers" on the plateau. As a result, Segantini is said to have decided to leave Savognin. Bice explains in her short biography: "He had grown tired of the area and was afraid of repeating himself." He took the still unfinished painting "Alpine Meadows" with him to the Engadine, where he completed it in 1895.
