Round hike Rhine Gorge

The hike begins in the village of Versam. Passing the church, the path leads into the nearby forest with beautiful old beech trees. Already, one catches a first glimpse of the Rhine Gorge. Soon, the road is reached, and you follow it for a short distance to the Islabord viewpoint, which is elegantly integrated into the landscape. From the platform, take a few steps back and follow the forest path towards Chrummwag. Soon, a trail leads deeper into the Rhine Gorge, where you eventually walk directly along the river. The setting here is fascinating, always close to the water and framed by steep rock walls. The path continues via Versam train station through pine forests, along gravel banks, and reaches the turnoff towards Carrera. Here, you climb up to the hamlet of Carrera. Through forests and over meadows, the route goes in a gentle ascent and descent back to Versam.

Places to eat are available at the Versam train station, either at the Café zur Einkehr or at the self-service shop in the waiting room. At Isla, there is a lovely fire pit at the edge of the forest.
