Transruinaulta Trailmarathon 21.10.24
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the Transruinaulta Trail Marathon will take place, starting in Ilanz and finishing in Thusis. The section Ilanz – Castrisch – Valendas-Sagogn Bhf – Versam-Safien Bhf to Chrummwag will be closed until about 2.30 p.m. on the day of the event. Reopened from 12 noon from Ilanz.
In 6 stages along the Anterior Rhine from the source of the Rhine, through the Rhine Gorge to Reichenau, where the Anterior and Posterior Rhine meet.

Lai da Tuma/Tomasee: The 1,230-kilometre journey of the Rhine begins at the source of the Rhine. Much of what happens here has an influence on its course. That is why the inhabitants of the municipality of Tujetsch - on whose soil the source of the Rhine is located - take care of their natural wonder. The mighty Anterior Rhine glacier covered the entire Surselva during the last ice age. The mountain landscape of the Oberalp Pass, formed by glaciers, is the headwaters of the Anterior Rhine. The ice stream has long since melted, leaving behind a firn hollow in which the Lai da Tuma, at the foot of the Piz Badus, is embedded. A jewel among the Swiss mountain lakes at 2,345 m above sea level - unique in its beauty, magic and importance.
From Trun: From Trun, walk on the left bank of the Rhine to Tavanasa. Here you cross the Vorderrhein over the old Rhine bridge. From Tavanasa you hike on the Polish Trail, which was built between 1940 and 1945 by interned Polish soldiers. Commemorative plaques and a wayside shrine at the western end of Plaun Grond remind us of the history of the fascinating river landscape.
From Ilanz: From Ilanz it goes along the Anterior Rhine through a floodplain of national importance into the heart of the gorge to Versam Station. The Rhine Gorge is characterized by sandstone walls up to 300 meters high. The "Swiss Grand Canyon" offers an unforgettable fauna and flora. Since there is still no continuous hiking trail between Versam Station and Trin Station, this section must be covered by the Rhaetian Railway. From the Trin station, we continue on foot again. The path leads along the riverbank to Reichenau, where the Anterior and Posterior Rhine rivers converge.
Geheimtipp
Both a detour to the viewing platform Alix in Valendas, as well as a visit to the viewing platform Islabord in Versam, is worthwhile.
Sicherheitshinweis
Attention: The section Versam Station-Trin Station is not accessible due to the terrain and must therefore be covered by the Rhaetian Railway.
In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.
