Naturpfad Altaun

The Altaun, the sun hill in Valendas, is a very special place for plants. Special shrubs, which are adapted to dry locations, and some very rare flowers grow on the unique viewing hill. The nature trail can be walked at any time. The information on woody plants is available all year round, while that on flowers is only available during the growing season.

Some of the information boards are also placed a little off the path at the edge of the forest. Therefore, it is worthwhile to take a close look at the surroundings so that you can discover as many locations as possible.

Combine the nature trail with a visit to the fascia natural room at the village square. There you will find more information about flora and fauna in the region.

You leave the village square in the direction of the church and continue walking along the church wall around the church. Continue on the gravel path to the edge of the forest on the Altaun hill. You do not follow the gravel path but branch off to the left into a nature path, which leads you to the first locations of bushes and flowers. Soon it goes steeply up to the Altaun. The view from here of the village is wonderful. If you look around here, you will already discover other posts that indicate locations of trees and bushes but also flowers. Somewhat hidden in the forest, there are other locations of shrubs and trees. Back in the open area, follow the path and leave the Altaun on the other side. Once you arrive on a road, follow it to the left and return to the village. On the way back you will find various flowers displayed.
