Jooshuus, Valendas

The mountain village of Valendas experienced an exciting history, which makes the place today's showpiece of a successful village renewal. Various waves of emigration and the associated depopulation led to decades of stagnation in development. Thanks to the commitment of committed residents, the association and the Valendas Impulse Foundation and the support of many people and institutions, Valendas has reinvented itself in recent years. The population is increasing and the houses and squares are filling up with life again.

The townscape of national importance with its stately patrician houses, the imposing historic wooden fountain and the well-preserved historic building fabric impressively shows the eventful history of the village. With the permanent exhibition "Valendas – An Exhibition on the Development and History of the Village", locals and visitors are invited to learn more about life and work in Valendas and to understand how the village was revived in the stable of the historic Jooshuus.
