Beschreibung

The church and chapel hike in the municipality of Sumvitg leads the hiker past five different churches and chapels. Each of them is special and different in architectural style and age. From Rabius, the route leads up to the sunny slope to Campieschas and then over to S. Benedetg. On the viewpoint "Chick" near S. Benedetg a wonderful view can be enjoyed. Nearby is also the well-known Kapelle S. Benedetg by Peter Zumthor. The circular route can be walked from Rabius or Sumvitg. On the way there are several restaurants and shops that can provide for the physical well-being of the hiker.

Sicherheitshinweis

In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Ausrüstung

Good hiking boots with a good profile, weather-adapted clothing (rain jacket/sun protection), change of clothes, first aid kit, drink, food, ev. Hiking poles.

Wegbeschreibung

The start of the tour is in Rabius. From Rabius you go up to Campieschas and from there continue to S. Benedetg.  In S. Benedetg the descent to Sumvitg begins and from there you hike back to the starting point in Rabius.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

By train via Chur or Göschenen

From Göschenen via Disentis or from Chur directly with the RhB to Rabius or Sumvitg/Cumpadials.

The tour can be started from Rabius train station. Alternatively, the tour can be started from Sumvitg/Cumpadials station.

Anreise Information

By car via Chur

From Zurich on the N

3 or from St. Gallen on the N 13 to Chur and continue to the exit Reichenau direction Disentis/Ilanz/Flims to Rabius (train station) or Sumvitg (station Sumvitg/Cumpadials).

By car via Göschenen

From Basel on the N 2 via Lucerne to Göschenen, continue on the old pass road through the Schöllenen gorge to Andermatt and over the Oberalp Pass/Disentis to Sumvitg station Sumvitg/Cumpadials. (This is located below the village between Sumvitg and Cumpadials) or drive to Rabius to the train station.

Parken

In Sumvitg or Rabius you can park in the parking lot at the train station (subject to payment).
