Beschreibung

The circular route  is 3.6 kilometres long and is  located in Berschis near Walenstadt. From the village of Berschis we hike uphill for about 25 minutes until after a bend the Berschner Falls suddenly towers up in front of us.  The waterfall is a 46 m high isolated case.

The path then goes up stairs to a tarred road, which we follow for a while. Afterwards we turn onto a natural path that leads us first to the Ughürig Brunnä, a natural glacier mill. A legend tells that the devil in the form of a snake guards an immeasurable treasure, which is located in the well.

The path leads us to the Lourdes Grotto. The grotto was opened in 1921, not least as a thank you from the municipality of Berschis for sparing a cattle epidemic in the valley. On the benches under the large, old trees you can rest well.

Afterwards we continue on a natural path until we reach the tarred road again. This road leads us back to the village.

Geheimtipp

The waterfall is particularly impressive in spring at the time of snow melt and after heavy rainfall.

Sicherheitshinweis

Individual sections of the trail in the ravine can be damp and slippery, as can the bridge at the waterfall through the spray of the fall

Ausrüstung

Light backpack, good footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, telescopic poles if necessary

Wegbeschreibung

The path first runs through the alleys of Berschis, before a bridge leads over the Berschnerbach. From then on, a natural path continues into a small ravine, always close to the Berschnerbach. Halfway we reach the Berschnerfall, where a wooden bridge leads over the roaring Berschnerbach. Wooden stairs then let us easily overcome a short, crisp incline. On a tarred road we then go downhill until we turn back onto a natural path at St. Georgenhügel and walk along the foot of the slope downhill. After the Lourdes Grotto, the trail leads back to the tarred road back to the village of Berschis.
