Beschreibung

The fountain mermaid of Valendas leads to seven stations along the circular route. It tells short stories and sets observation tasks that sharpen the senses and let you experience nature, geology and history in a fascinating way. The stations provide information on topics such as: Rhine Gorge, Flims Landslide, Carrerabach, Mühle, Krüzerstall, Erika-Föhrenwald and alte Bahnhofstrasse. The circular route can be easily walked in both directions and started at different points.

Geheimtipp

A visit to the castle ruins of Valendas, the largest wooden fountain in Europe in the village centre and the Alix viewing platform are worthwhile.

Ausrüstung

Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing is highly recommended.

Wegbeschreibung

The faszinaturweg can be well walked in both directions and started in different places. The trail leads out of the village of Valendas, to Valendas station and along the Rhine and Carrerabach back to the village of Valendas.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

Valendas station is served by trains to Disentis/Mustér as well as to Chur on request.

Anreise Information

From Chur: Take Poststrasse north towards Grabenstrasse/Route 3, take the A13/E43 and Versamerstrasse to Gassa in Valendas.

From Ilanz: Take the road towards Gassa.

Parken

Parking is available at Valendas station for a fee.

Holzbrunnen Valendas

Valendas is home to the largest wooden fountain in Europe. While the fountain used to be the only source of water in the village, today it serves more as a meeting place and welcome source of refreshment in summer.

Aussichtsplattform Alix in Valendas

The Alix observation deck is located in Valendas. From the platform, visitors can enjoy an impressive view of the confluence of the Carrera stream. The viewing platform is accessible via the hiking trail from Valenda's village.
