Beschreibung
The mule village of Andeer is the largest village in Val Schons, where the Romans settled on their way across the Alps. Andeer is also a spa resort and has a mineral bath rich in calcium, magnesium and sulphate.
Zillis is famous for its Romanesque hall church from the 12th century and its unique church ceiling, which consists of 153 painted square panels, mostly made of fir wood, and is a very rare work of art of its kind.
The hike leads along the left bank of the Hinterrhein on a wide forest path to Clugin. From there, the trail climbs steeply uphill on mountain paths to the Cagliatscha ruins with a magnificent view of Val Schons. A barbecue area invites you to linger.
Via Donat, situated on the Schamserberg, the route descends on mountain and forest paths to Zillis. The church of St. Martin is well worth a visit.
On the right side of the Hinterrhein, the hike leads back to Andeer via Pignia.
Geheimtipp
Visit to the church in Clugin with its wall paintings inside the church from the first half of the 14th century by the Waltensburg Master of unknown origin.
