Alta Tensione

Beschreibung
The high-voltage lines that run through the Valposchiavo are an inevitable concession to modern life. This would be unthinkable without electricity. But instead of ignoring the masts and pipes, the "Alta Tensione" hiking trail makes a virtue out of necessity: it consciously follows their course and thus rewards the hikers with unusual views over the valley floor. From Poschiavo, whose piazza is framed by stately patrician houses, we go to the new monastery. Here begins the ascent to the southeast over paved roads to above Cologna. Along the high-voltage line, the path leads through forest sections and clearings, the view sweeps to the opposite side of the valley. The name suggests it: On this hike high tension is announced.
Lying on the sunny side of the valley and never rising above 1,300 meters, the path is accessible almost all year round.

Rhaetian Railway
More than 100 years ago it went into operation: the Bernina Line. In 1910, direct train service was started between St. Moritz and Tirano. 61 kilometres of the highest architecture against the backdrop of the highest mountain in Graubünden. This special treat, which leads past the mighty Palü and Morteratsch glaciers, which combines southern joie de vivre and alpine beauty, can be experienced every day on the Bernina Express. But sometimes you take your breath away because of the exposed curves and the overwhelming mountain panorama.
