Holzkirche Obermutten innen

The listed church in Obermutten is the only sacred building in Switzerland that is made entirely of wood, with the surrounding larch forests providing the building material. It is also the highest wooden church in Europe.

Beschreibung

The ridge turret was added in 1830 during a restoration. The simple interior contains a Toggenburg house organ from 1807, built by Heinrich Amman and donated by Friedrich and Anthoni Michel according to the inscription. It was restored in 1975. In the centre is a wooden, mobile baptismal and communion table. All the wooden components, including the wooden pipes, are original. The two bells in the ridge turret previously hung under the eaves at the front.

Church services are held regularly in the wooden church during the summer months of July and August.

Öffnungszeiten

The church is open all year round during the day.
