Walserdorf Medergen
In the 12th and 13th centuries, flocks of shepherds and cattle breeders emigrated from the upper Valais and settled parts of Graubünden. Around Medergen near Arosa, the Walsers, as they were called, left their animals on the pastures in the summer and built a collection of alpine and residential buildings that has been well preserved to this day.

Beschreibung

The Walser came from Davos over the Strela Pass. They spent their winters in the sapün high valley above Langwies. In summer, they let their animals graze on the pastures around Medergen and built a collection of alpine and residential buildings that has been well preserved to this day. For hikers an enjoyable place for a break. In the Alpenrose mountain restaurant, Walter and Verena Hug-Bavier provide rustic food, such as hut chops, sausages and salads, but also homemade Wähen or Meringues with cream. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy the delicacies with wonderful foresight, otherwise you will warm up in the charming Stübli of the Walserhaus from the year 1'760.
