Wald-Vielfalt Parcours Cazis

The forests are among the most diverse habitats in Switzerland. One third of the country's surface is covered with forest, this area is enclosed by about 117,000 km of forest edge and the forest area increases, annually by about the area of Lake Thun. Over 20,000 animal species, countless plants and fungi, lichens and mosses are at home here. The new "Forest Diversity" campaign draws attention to this.

Beschreibung

This is the core idea of the new forest diversity project, which is to be implemented in the municipality of Cazis. There are different forest images that are very important and valuable for biodiversity and when we talk about biodiversity in the forest, we need old trees and enough deadwood. The interplay of mushrooms and trees is also an incredibly fascinating interplay in nature.

We humans also benefit from diverse forests. They do a lot for us and can better adapt to the effects of climate change. Forests are indispensable for us: they provide us with wood as a renewable material for building and heating. They purify our drinking water and bind CO2 to breathe. They protect us from natural hazards such as avalanches. They enable jobs, even in remote areas. And last but not least, they are the best place for relaxing excursions, especially during the hot summer months.

Any hiking trail closures/restrictions or diversions can be found here.

Ausrüstung

The core activity consists of 12 wooden panels in the form of a plant, a forest animal or a fungus. These are hidden in a part of the forest (hung, placed in a bush, etc.) so that the forest visitors have to look for them. There is a number on each board. This number can be written down and noted on a card.
