Via Sett: Casaccia

Beschreibung

At the foot of the Septimer and Maloja passes lies the small village of Casaccia. It was a strategic crossroads of two trade routes and lived off the transports and traders. While in other mountain villages agriculture was the main source of income, in Casaccia there are conspicuously few farms. Instead, there used to be 40 blacksmiths in the village, many saddlers and inns that could benefit from the traffic over the passes.   You can still marvel at the Cunvent from 1520, which served as a horse changing station and inn. Even this old house was not spared when debris flows buried the village between 1573 and 1927. As a result, the windows and doors are now well below street level.

Here in Casaccia, the fourth stage of the interactive route ends! We were pleased to accompany you during your hike with information about the Septimer Trail. We wish you all the best for the rest of your journey through Bregaglia to Vicosoprano. We are always happy to receive feedback and suggestions on the interactive route - because this is the only way we can improve (info@parc-ela.ch)!
