Those who love the steep start from Campascio, warm up along the line of the Rhaetian Railway to Campocologno and climb for 900 meters in altitude in 5 km next to the church of Campocologno in the woods towards Lughina. An easy traverse leads to the next ascent of Rossat.

From Rossat you climb again, at 730 meters above sea level in the coniferous forest, up to the Col d'Anzana, on the border with Italy, with a splendid view of the Valtellina. Now we are above the tree line: a short slightly exposed passage and another climb lead to the lakes Lagh da la Regina and Lagh dal Mat and then, after a total of 19 km, to the highest point at 2526 meters above sea level.

From here, 12 km descend to Campascio or Campocologno on good trails with a difference in altitude of about 1900 meters. If you do not want to climb so much, you can take the PostBus from Brusio to / from Cavaione at 1300 m above sea level and "save" about 700 meters in altitude and 2 hours of ascent or 1 hour of descent. Please note: The PostBus (Publicar Val Poschiavo) can only be used by reservation.

The only stopping points along the way are at Alpe Pescia Bassa (after 12 km) and Rifugio Ansana (after 14 km), but only if shepherds are present. It is therefore advisable to bring your own food. Water can be replenished in streams.
