The Tower of Santa Maria stands majestically on the hill next to the Church of Santa Maria, dominating the horizon and offering a splendid view of the Val Mesolcina.

Beschreibung

The medieval tower rises majestically up to 18 meters high on the highest point of the rocky outcrop, presenting itself externally as a narrow and pointed pentagon. The tower was built following the Donjon style of northern France, proving to be an exceptional rarity in the Graubünden architectural field. Access is through an elevated opening 2 meters above the ground.  A staircase, once crowned by battlements, leads through the 4 residential floors of the structure to the top, offering a panoramic view of the Mesolcina and the surrounding mountains. This imposing building is in direct visual communication with the towers of Boggian in Roveredo and Norantola in Cama, thus acting as a point of crucial strategic importance.
