Torre di Boggiano (oua_600847957_image)

The Tower of Boggiano stands on a rocky spur at the entrance of Val Traversagna. The ruins are of a four-storey tower, a square pinata, and the ruins of a boundary wall.

Beschreibung

The tower, probably part of a permanent fortified settlement, is located at the entrance of Val Traversagna, on the route that leads to Bocchetta di Camedo, the historic link between Mesolcina and Lake Como. Built in 1406 by Alberto De Sacco as a signal and control tower, this majestic structure is oriented towards the tower of Santa Maria in Calanca. The name Boggiano, taken from documents of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, connects this structure with the powerful family gravedonese De Boiano.
