The Muretto pass

The width of the mule track on the Italian side bears witness to the importance of this passage. In contrast, the path on the Swiss side is rather narrow and quite steep and gravelly in places.
The route offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, especially the north face of Monte Disgrazia, which can be admired at length on the descent into Valmalenco.o.

Overnight stay in Chiareggio and return hike the next day via the Forno saddle (difficult).

You set off at the last hairpin bend of the Maloja Pass. A short road leads to the large Orden parking area. From there, take the small country road to the houses of Salecina and continue over the Orlegna to the beautiful Lake Cavloc.
Leave the lake behind you and hike through the valley until you reach the junction to the Muretto valley. The path turns left and crosses the Orlegna. Only a little later, the path climbs, always following the course of the stream into Val Muretto. The last ascent to the top of the pass is very steep and gravelly, the path tends to lead up the gully on the left.
On the Italian side of the Muretto Pass, the path is wider and runs comfortably as a mule track through the Val Malenco, past several Alps to Chiareggio.
