T 09 Via Francisca: Ilanz - Disentis

Of the three stages since Chur, this is the longest. It runs largely directly along the Rhine, mostly on the south bank. This stage climbs almost imperceptibly at the beginning. However, the somewhat steeper climbs increase towards the end of the stage, so that we climb a good 700 meters in altitude on this stage. However, we always find somewhat larger settlements on the way, where accommodation is also offered. While yesterday we had the stage of short steps, uphill and downhill, today we have the stage of longer steps.
The stage town of Disentis/Mustér is a good place to spend the night. The parish church and the Benedictine monastery are open during the day. In the course of its history, the monastery was destroyed several times and once even cremated, losing not only art treasures, but also the archive and library. The monastery was restored three times, the last time in 1880.

The stages in this documentation are suggestions that each pilgrim can adapt to his wishes. however, the technical data always concern the assumption that these stages are completed in one day.
