Schlaufe durch wilde Hochtäler Val Curciusa und Val Vignun

From the village of Nufenen follow the road down to the Hinterrhein. Now follow the hiking trail a little back in the direction of Splügen. After the bridge over the Aureua stream - which we will follow for a long time - turn right at the stable and follow the hiking trail up to Alp de Rog. Numerous steps lead up to the valley basin of the Val Curciusa. First along steep flanks, then through rocky steps and finally through the wide alpine meadows of the valley floor.  Again and again, the wild Areua stream opens up deep blue water basins. With a view of the glacier Ghiacciaio de Curciusa, you walk past the Rifugio up to the Bochetta de Curciusa.

Descending over the Bochetta, we head towards San Bernardino. If you don't want to go to civilization, stay high up and follow the path back up to Val Vignun, where you can discover the next high valley. On the left side of the valley, follow the stream to the Strec de Vignun. From here it goes steeply downhill to the Alp de Rog. From here you follow the path back to Nufenen.

The Areua stream
The Arauabach is described by the WWF as one of the few water pearls in Switzerland. It's worth stopping for a swim!

Length of the tour
The tour is very long. You can divide the route without any problems. The PostBus is a great way to get from San Bernardino to Nufenen or vice versa.
