The village of Savogno is situated on a natural terrace, just above the Acquafraggia waterfalls

Beschreibung

The village of Savogno has medieval origins and still preserves interesting features of spontaneous rural architecture, with stone walls and wooden loggias. The village had become an obligatory transit point for those who went to Chur, capital of the Three Grey Leagues, in Switzerland.

The ancient parish church dedicated to San Bernardino, consecrated in 1465, is also very interesting. It has interesting frescoes of the period and a Renaissance bell tower, erected about twenty years after the construction of the sacred temple and which today is one of the few in the Val Bregaglia to preserve its characteristic architectural features unchanged over the centuries. The structure was later renovated for the first time in the 17th century and then later in the 19th century thanks to the work of Saint Luigi Guanella, during the years in which he was parish priest in the village (1867-1875).
