Transruinaulta Trailmarathon 21.10.24
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the Transruinaulta Trail Marathon will take place, starting in Ilanz and finishing in Thusis. The section Ilanz – Castrisch – Valendas-Sagogn Bhf – Versam-Safien Bhf to Chrummwag will be closed until about 2.30 p.m. on the day of the event. Reopened from 12 noon from Ilanz.
On this hike you can experience the Rhine Gorge from above with spectacular views on the one hand and on the other hand you hike through it directly along the Rhine.

Beschreibung
The start of the hike is in the village of Versam. Past the church, the path leads into the nearby forest with beautiful old beech trees. You can already catch a first glimpse of the Rhine Gorge. Soon you reach the road. Follow this for a short distance to the Islabord viewing platform, which stands chicly staged in the landscape. From the platform, take a few steps back and follow the forest path in the direction of Chrummwag. Soon a path leads deeper and deeper into the Rhine Gorge until you finally hike directly along the Rhine. The scenery here is fascinating, always close to the water and framed by steep rock faces, the path leads via Versam train station through pine forests, along gravel banks to the junction in the direction of Carrera. Here you climb up to the hamlet of Carrera. Through forest and over pastures it goes back to Versam in slight ups and downs.
Geheimtipp
Refreshment stops at Versam train station, in the café for refreshments or in the self-service shop in the waiting room. At Isla there is a nice fire pit at the edge of the forest.
Sicherheitshinweis
Out of consideration for nature and the sometimes endangered animal species, there are a few rules to follow in the area of the Rhine Gorge: Please only use the signposted routes and rest areas and observe the protection zones for the endangered sandpiper and ringed plover between April and July. During this time, it is not allowed to enter the gravel banks and river banks in the designated places.
Please only use the official fire pits and take rubbish back with you. Camping is only allowed at official campsites.

Anreise Information
From Chur, take the motorway exit Bonaduz, then turn off in the village of Bonaduz in the direction of Versam-Safiental. In Versam there are few parking spaces, otherwise the Islabord car park (direction Versam-Safien train station) is suitable for parking.
