Church Viamala
Reformierte Kirche Thusis
Beschreibung
The church was built by Andreas Bühler from Gmünd/Austria in the pre-Reformation period 1491-1506. It is kept in the late Gothic style and was originally a church of St. Mary. It was renovated in 1792, 1814, 1905, 1956 and 2008. It is single-nave. The choir has a star-ribbed vault with gilded stripes. The Gothic pointed arch windows are glazed without decoration, the tracery is shaped differently in each case. Above the western entrance portal is a Gothic fish bladder window with monochromatic light glass. Next to the door, the old choir stalls have been preserved. It now functions as a repository for information brochures.
The tower adjoins the church to the north and dates from 1727. The last fire that broke out in the tower in 2002 severely damaged the onion dome. It has been reconstructed true to the original. The church needed a completely new bell after the fire. Two of the broken bells are still preserved: one stands outside between the church and the mortuary, another in front of the Migros.
Öffnungszeiten
The church is open during the day and is freely accessible.
