Historical Site San Bernardino Mesolcina Calanca
Ponte del Ram
Among the gems of engineering archaeology in the Moesano area, the Ponte del Ram stands out, located south of Grono, near the junction for the Calanca.
Beschreibung
The Ponte del Ram, a stone work with two majestic arches, was erected at the end of the fifteenth century on the initiative of Gian Giacomo Trivulzio, with the aim of facilitating the crossing of the Calancasca river. It is assumed that the name derives from the new riverbed, then called the Ram. In the nineteenth century, thanks to expansion works, it became an essential crossroads for the San Bernardino carriage road.
