On 1 January 2016, Marmorera merged with the municipalities of Bivio, Cunter, Mulegns, Riom-Parsonz, Salouf, Savognin, Sur and Tinizong-Rona to form the new municipality of Surses.

The village Marmorera is located high above the Marmorera reservoir. The approximately 50 inhabitants are spread over the factions Marmorera and Scalotta. Not only the castle of Marmels, but also the village church invites you for a visit.
