Ventilation concept for the Sedrun tunnel - During tunnelling work in the base tunnel, pollution, heating and humidity of the tunnel air must not exceed the legal limits. Two separate systems for air renewal and underground cooling are therefore operated. The ventilation concept: The construction air is based on the combination of two circuits: The fans of the basic circuit suck in the exhaust air from the east and west tubes in the multifunctional points and blow it via air pipes (ducts) into the exhaust air compartment of the shaft and then through the vent chimney into Val Nalps.

The construction work in the tunnel has been completed and since 2016 the express trains have been roaring through the mountain 800 meters deeper.
