Ventilation concept for the Sedrun Tunnel - During the excavation work in the base tunnel, pollution, heating and moisture in the tunnel air must not exceed the legal limits. For this reason, two separate systems are maintained for air renewal and underground cooling.

The ventilation concept: The construction air is based on the combination of two circuits: the fans of the basic circuit suck in the exhaust air from the east and west tubes in the multifunctional stations and blow it via air pipes (ducts) into the exhaust air compartment of the shaft and then through the ventilation chimney into Val Nalps.

The construction work in the tunnel has been completed and since 2016 the express trains have been roaring through the mountain 800 meters below
