Kornhiste, Obersaxen

Most of the once common Kornhists have disappeared today. The mighty histes were provided with gabled roofs and were used to dry the grain planted here. In addition, the harvest at this altitude was well protected from mice and other hungry rodents. Other specimens of such Kornhists can still be found in the vicinity of Curaglia (towards the Rein da Medel) as well as in the Tujetsch.
