Kirche Sogn Flurin

The church Sogn Flurin stands on the main road in the middle of the village of Vignogn. Seen from the outside, the simple, late Gothic church was rebuilt and enlarged around 1500.

Beschreibung

The church is open from 09.00 - 17.30.

The plain, late Gothic church seen from the outside was rebuilt and enlarged around 1500 (1). The eye-catcher in the nave (picture 2) is the winged altar (3) in the choir signed by Jörg Kändel. As a rarity, it shows a total of nine female figures on the display side, but not the titular saint of the church. The reason for this is the old location of the altar in Platta on the Lukmanier Pass.

The predella (4) consists of half-figures of Christ and the twelve disciples. In the filigree blast (5) one recognizes St. Maurice with the armor, St. Florinus and St. George with the lance.

The outer sides of the wings show on the left the Annunciation and on the right the visit of Mary to Elizabeth, the so-called Visitation. Peter and Paul carry the veil of Veronica (6). The name of the responsible workshop is now also clearly visible: Jörg Kendel Biberach.

Hans Ardüser created a series of frescoes on the choir walls in 1595. To the left of the window: Matthew with the angel, Mary with the baby Jesus, the mercy seat (7) (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and St. Florinus. To the right of the window are: Luke with the bull (8), John with the eagle and a praying priest.
