Ilanzer Altstadt, Ilanz

Walk through the Upper Gate or the Red Gate into the medieval town surrounded by high walls. You will find historic buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries such as St. Margaret's Church with extraordinary depictions of death and life from the time just before the Reformation, the town hall or the Casa Gronda. The old town is affectionately called "Städtli" by the locals. Thanks to the central location of the main town of the Graubünden Oberland, the six ski areas (Brigels-Waltensburg-Andiast, Obersaxen Mundaun Val Lumnezia, Vals, Flims/Laax, Disentis and Sedrun) as well as the entire range of winter sports in the Surselva can be reached easily and quickly, especially by public transport.
