Haus Schmid von Grüneck am Obertor, Ilanz

In 1673, Haus Schmid am Obertor was built by Johann Jakob Schmid.

At the Obertor there is a late Gothic house, which became the property of the Ilanz family Schmid von Grüneck in 1594. In 1673, this property was extended by Johann Jakob Schmid von Grüneck when he married Anna von Schorsch from Splügen. He embellished the building and added a magnificent baroque hall to the south wing, decorated with Latin sayings.
