Beschreibung
The Greina is one of the
most beautiful and largest plateaus in Switzerland and is one of the few still natural contiguous areas of Switzerland. Their biotope diversity is extraordinary and unique. For this reason, the Greina Plain has been included as a protected zone in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance in Switzerland.
The Greina plateau is about six kilometers long and one kilometer wide and lies at 2200 meters above sea level. The Greina Pass connects Graubünden in the east and Ticino in the west. The three valleys Val Lumnezia, Val Sumvitg (Graubünden) and Valle di Blenio (Ticino) are only connected via the Greina plain.
Places of magic:
The Greina plateau is a fascinating and unique landscape throughout Switzerland. It is wild and untouched, gentle and scary at the same time. The landscape is wide, the distance is infinite and yet the mountains seem so close.
At the Muot la Greina, a stone-rich room with ponds and moors opens up. In the plain, remains of several walls of past cultures are visible. It is a powerful, magical place, which has probably also been used cultically.
