More panorama is hardly possible. Nor is there any more comfort to get to the first hill, the Piz Mundaun. Now the snowshoe tour leads more or less along the ridge up and down again and again. Until you descend deep into the valley on the Obersax side just before the Péz Sezner.

Even though this tour is close to the slopes, you will be in unsecured terrain. A correct assessment of the avalanche and weather situation is absolutely necessary.

Beschreibung

It's special. The skiers and snowboarders have the same panorama. But somehow it's different when you climb the mountains under your own steam. On this tour, however, you will cover the first 800 metres of altitude on the Piz Mundaun with the other skiers on the chairlift. If you feel like it, treat yourself to a coffee in the summit restaurant.

From here, the tour takes you more or less along the ridge from Piz Mundaun, over the Hitzeggerkopf, the Stein, to just before the Péz Sezner. At times you are close to the slopes, but then you feel far away from civilization again. The view extends in all directions far beyond the Surselva and the cantonal borders. But it is not a casual walk. The technically rather easy tour has it all with the constant ups and downs. You have to earn every summit by sweating.

Just before the Péz Sezner we take you down towards Wali. The summit ascent to the Sezner has a steep rock step and is not suitable for a snowshoe tour. After a well-deserved break in the Wali restaurant, you continue hiking over gentle slopes to Tristel. Now you have to make about 300 meters of depth over more or less steep meadows before you stand on the road near Obersaxen Tobel. Ideally, you should take the almost ten minutes to Meierhof on the road under your feet. If you have to go further, you can also take the ski bus (Postbus) from "Obersaxen, Tobel" to your destination.

Geheimtipp

In good snow conditions (not too much snow) you can also walk through the Meierhofer Tobel shortly before the finish, in Pumatta. But be careful, the stairs are sometimes steep and are often icy.

If you don't feel like descending to Obersaxen, take the chairlift from Stein via Kartitscha to Meierhof.

If you want to take the tour from Vella/Lumnezia, you can also take the train from Vella and Triel to the Hitzeggerkopf and join the tour there. The way back by ski bus/post bus leads at the end of the tour via Ilanz.

Sicherheitshinweis

Ski and snowshoe tours in unsecured terrain require good knowledge of avalanche danger assessment and tour planning. Furthermore, a complete safety upgrade must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.

We recommend the APP and website of WhiteRisk for preparation and planning of the tour.

For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe guides in Surselva.
