Today we will have to deal with witches twice – at the Hexensee and at the Hexenplatte

The Val Milar lies in the shade in the morning. Finding the way to Hexensee is now easy, as the uppermost section of the trail is newly marked white/red. However, we first leave it to the right – after all, we want to get to the Krüzlistock! From the Lai Selvadi begins the scrambling over boulders and scree to the small gap, where the Oberalpstock greets us from the opposite side. The ridge to the summit cross is partly exposed and is only recommended for those without fear of heights. At the top, seating space is limited, but the 360-degree panorama extends far into Central Switzerland. The dark spot lures in the distance is the Hexensee.

Once there, we take our time to explore the extraordinary surroundings. On windless days, the mountain backdrop is reflected in the deep blue lake; the bright rounded rocks invite a nap, and the water perhaps offers a refreshing swim.

Our further path now leads along a white/blue route so new that no trail has formed yet. Therefore, we stay alert.

On the Val Strem side, an exciting terrain opens up, between rocks and over pastures, where only prospectors had been before. In a curve, we rejoin the white/red hiking trail at Alp Caschlé. We walk through heather, alpine rose and blueberry bushes, and past small wetlands. At the Hexenplatte, we dare a dance on the flat stone – hopefully, no one sees us!

On the descent through the Uaul Flurin, a carpet of needles muffles our steps and the shade of mighty firs is very welcome.

Geheimtipp

If you find crystals along the way, you are allowed to take them with you. Only if you are using a hammer or chisel do you need a prospector's license.

Wegbeschreibung

From the parking lot in Rueras, we follow the unmarked trail along the Milar stream until we reach the road. About 100 meters after the paved road, we find signpost No. 43, which we follow to the left and into the valley up to above the hut. Here there is a signpost that shows us the way to Hexensee. Shortly before Hexensee, we turn north, walk past the Lai Selvadi, and climb the slope towards the gap located north of Krüzlistock. From the gap, it goes southwards along the ridge to the summit. Descent on the same route back to Hexensee. Here we meet the signpost with the white/blue sign. We follow the signs to Alp Caschlé, where we follow the white/red trail signs towards Rueras.
