Gebiet Murgsee

The break from the Mürtschenfurggel can be traced further to the Murgseefurggel and the Widersteinerfurggel. There, massive verrucano rocks (west) were pushed to softer, more slate verrucano rocks. The massive Verrucano rocks in the area of the Murgseen were strongly shaped and polished by the glaciers. In addition to moorlands, the northernmost Central European occurrences of extensive Swiss stone pine populations developed.
