Gasthaus Rathaus

Built in 1481, the Gasthaus Rathaus in Safien Platz offers enjoyment and relaxation in a cosy atmosphere.

In 1481, the settler community built the town hall in Safien Square. It is the oldest known town hall of all Walser settlements. The building was used on feast days and for the meetings of the valley court. It was leased to a settler family who agreed to follow a number of regulations regarding maintenance and heating.
