Forno hut - Sella del Forno - Monte del Forno

From the Rifugio Forno you reach the Sella del Forno (2769m) to the east and then climb up the south-western slope of the south ridge (initially quite steep) via p. 2944 to the summit structure. Below the summit rocks, at a noticeable big stone, you make the ski depot.
A few metres further east, you will come across massive steel chains that make the climb through the rocks much easier. In case of icing - or if the chains are snow covered - the ascent on foot is challenging. Finally, an elegant firn edge leads to the highest point (3213m).

Downhill: Either on the ascent route or from the ski depot over wonderful slopes directly to the south-west - finally through a couloir - down into the valley between Monte del Forno and Monte Rosso.

For those who wish to spend a night in the mountains, the Capanna Forno, open to skiers from the beginning of March, offers accommodation and meals.
