Beschreibung

On the route from the Panixerpass hut to the Martinsmadhütte SAC, you move almost constantly along the border between Glarus and Graubünden. First, the path leads to the idyllic Rotstocksee lake. Although you haven't been walking for long, it is worth taking a short break and letting the surroundings have an effect on you. Then the route continues to the Sether hut (2588 m above sea level). The hut is now privately owned.

The path leads a short slope up to Crena Martin (2727 m above sea level) and then along a ridge on the north side, over a ledge secured with chains. Now you follow the long ridge to the Bündner Vorab (3028 m above sea level), the highest point of the Via Glaralpina. Via Vorabsaddle, it goes to the Glarner Vorab (3018 m above sea level) and finally along the edge of the Vorab glacier and later via Schwarzwändli to the Martinsmadhütte SAC (2002 m above sea level).

Geheimtipp

  • Below the Vorab glacier, fossilized shells and coral stocks can be found in the limestone slabs

  • We are right in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Sardona Tectonic Arena. The Sardona World Heritage region is unique worldwide: nowhere else can you see the results of the processes that led to mountain formation as clearly and monumentally as here.

Summits:

  • Glarner and Bündner Vorab

Sicherheitshinweis

  • Panixerpass hut - Martinsmadhütte SAC T4

  • Short, challenging sections are secured with chains

  • When wet, the polished limestone slabs from point 2605 and the descent from Schwarzwändli to Martinsmadhütte SAC can be very slippery.

Variant:

  • Panixerpass - Elm T3
