Beschreibung

The flattened Bronze Age hill Crestaulta, which means "high hill", lies 300 meters west of the hamlet of Surin. The settlement was continuously inhabited between 2000 and 1200 BC and is considered one of the oldest in the inner Alpine region. According to the Archaeological Service of Graubünden, no other rural settlement from the Bronze Age has found such quantities of pottery as in Crestaulta. Numerous bronze objects were also found, such as: daggers, axe blades, arrowheads and various decorative pins and pendants. The fascinating finds from the excavations are exhibited in the Rhaetian Museum in Chur.
