Catholic Church Arosa Lenzerheide
Church of St. Luzi in Lain
Beschreibung
The richly decorated, two-storey façade of the daughter church in Lain is striking. This was built around 1678 to 1680 on the rocky foundation of a predecessor church and features a Carolingian ring crypt and a three-nave late Romanesque high choir that is unique in Switzerland. The baroque church interior houses countless sights by unknown artists. The late Renaissance high altar is flanked by two side altars. The winged altars at the entrance date from the early 16th century. The church is considered a rare example of the transition from Renaissance to early Baroque. Written documents and the name of the title saint indicate an older church. It was built in the years 1678-85. The church is considered a rare example from the transition from Renaissance to early Baroque.
