The Parish Church of SS. Bernardo and Antonio Abate is a late medieval religious building that was tragically destroyed by a flood and rebuilt in the sixteenth century.

Beschreibung

The parish church of SS. Bernardo and Antonio Abate was mentioned for the first time in 1419 but the consecration of the current church dates back to 1513. Over the centuries the church has undergone several changes such as the addition of the sacristy, the construction of the cross vault of the choir and the nave. The last two restorations took place in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.  The walls of the nave are enriched by stucco altars, elegantly framed by columns and pediments with a lowered arch, dated between 1680 and 1685. Each altar houses a painting of the same period, while on the main altar stands a painting depicting the Madonna with St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Anthony Abbot. On the ceiling of the choir stand baroque stuccoes dating back to 1686 that house the medallions on which Francesco Antonio Giorgioli painted the Evangelists in the same period. Giorgioli is also the author of some grisailles and frescoes recovered during the nineteenth-century restoration.
