Beschreibung
History: The chapel appears - as a branch of the Brigels parish church - with its patron saint St. Eusebius, first mentioned in a document in 1185. In the 17th century, it was often visited by the sick as a pilgrimage church, as the visitation record from 1643 notes.
Description of the building: The floor plan of the chancel-less, east-facing hall church forms a shifted rectangle interrupted by the tower. The chancel is not architecturally separated, but only marked at floor level by a step about 3.5 m from the east wall. The door in the west is framed by house stones made of tufa.
The tower from 1100 is aligned with the current front of the nave, but not with its north wall. In the three lower compartments there are simple round-arched slit windows, at the top there are domed double windows on three sides, 14th century.
Wall paintings: In three stages: I. On the southern outer wall of the nave, in the area of the extension, a life-size St. Christopher is painted. The heavily faded image shows the saint - in a red coat with an ermine collar and short skirt - still in the older version, carrying the child in his right arm. The posture is purely frontal, the staff is raised vertically. Mid-14th century, by a painter from Ticino or Lombardy. II. On the eastern inner wall, St. Andrew Mathias Bartholomew James. III. on the south wall, a large quattrocentric Epiphany painting adjoins the row of saints. The depiction is a popularly coarsened variant of the type masterfully created by Gentile Da Fabriano and inspired by the magnificent Epiphany processions on Epiphany Day.
Altars: Shrine of a Gothic altar from 1486 with the Virgin Mary, St. Anthony and Leonard, St. Wolfgang and Sebastian on the right and left. Painted winged altar from 1633, which was reassembled during the renovation of the high altar.
Furnishings: A crucifix, very primitive design, a replica of an original from the 13th century.
Bells from the Walpen foundry in Reckingen, with inscriptions 1774 and 1819.
