Through the snowy forest from Cavorgia to Segnas (signaled)
Details
Beschreibung
With our snowshoes packed, we hike along the low-traffic road to the village of Cavorgia, which is inhabited all year round. At the end of the lower part of the village we assemble the snowshoes. The path takes us along a snow-covered forest road, initially flat, then slightly sloping down to the snow-covered corn meadows of Mises las Cavorgias. We continue hiking to the lowest point, the bridge over the Rhine, in order to climb up to the main street on the other side. If no one has tracked ahead of us, the climb can take a lot of energy. When we get to the main road, we take off our snowshoes and hike along the cleared road up to Mumpé Tujetsch.
In Curschettas, on the winter hiking trail to Sedrun, we find the continuation of the snowshoe trail to Prau sura, a flat, sunny alp with well-kept May meadows. Leaning against a warm wooden wall, we enjoy the peace and the view of the mountains before we continue the path via the Maiensässe from Run Cunel to Segnas, our destination.
Geheimtipp
In light snowfall, the tour can be especially nice if you are well equipped. If you are already tired in Mumpé Tujetsch, you can end the tour here and take the train back to Sedrun.
The tour can also be started in the opposite direction at the start in Segnas.
Sicherheitshinweis
The route is signposted from Cavorgia but those who are not familiar with the area are advised to print out the topo map for the tour and carry it with them. Do not leave the given route in the wildlife rest zone.
Wegbeschreibung
We hike from Sedrun with snowshoes on the road to Cavorgia. At the junction near the chapel there is an information board about the tour. We follow the signposted route to the lower part of the village of Cavorgia. After the last building, we strap on our snowshoes and continue eastwards on the snow-covered road. This leads into the forest, where the path is then easily recognizable. We pass the mountain pastures Las Cavorgias, shortly afterwards we turn left down to the Rhine. The ascent to the cantonal road now begins. From there we carry the snowshoes up to Mompe Tujetsch. In the village, we turn left onto the winter hiking trail to Sedrun. At Curschettas we meet the continuation of the snowshoe trail, up to Prau Sura. We follow the route to Run Cunel to Segnas.
