Cauma und Dutjer Horn ab Riein

From Riein, shortly after the start, it is mostly leisurely uphill. The wide alpine meadows already give an idea of the beautiful downhill slopes on the ascent. In front of the hut of Alp da Riein it is wonderful to take an extensive rest. The view of the mountains of the Surselva is already phenomenal here. Through blueberry bushes, which are hopefully no longer visible, you now climb towards the summit slope. This has steep passages and, in appropriate conditions, requires experience in choosing the route. It can be climbed through the steep north slope or over the shoulder. Now you are standing on the generous summit of the Cauma and can end the tour here. The descent leads along the ascent route back to Riein.

If you prefer alpine skiing, you can continue up to the Dutjer Horn from the Cauma. The initially broad shoulder becomes more and more a narrow and steep line. Often you have to climb up without skis at the end. This addition is particularly worthwhile in extremely safe conditions. Then you can ski down the very steep northern slopes in the direction of Dutjer Alp.

In uncertain conditions, it is often only possible to climb up to Alp da Riesin. This is also a wonderful tour.
