New discoveries suggest that the small church of Santa Croce, in the vicinity of San Vittore, may have been built at the end of the XVI century.

Beschreibung

The chapel of Santa Croce consists of a single rectangular nave with a flat ceiling and an almost square choir with a cross vault. According to tradition, it was here in 1583 that the mayors of the valley met with the apostolic visitor Charles Borromeo from Bellinzona. The current structure of the church dates back to 1683, the date that can be read above the two entrances. Pictorial traces can be seen in the apostolic crosses with which the chapel was consecrated, which preceded the decorations of the inhabitants of Seregno, who were active from the middle of the fifteenth century. This suggests that the construction could date back to the end of the XIV century.
