Across the Pass da la Roda

Pass da Roda is located at the end of the long Val Maroz valley, it can be reached from Soglio, either via Pass da la Duana or from Casaccia. From the pass you can descend to the Madristal valley through the rugged, solitary Val da Roda. At the alp La Sovrana, where you can see the Val di Lago with the Acquafraggia lake on the left, you meet a long agricultural road that leads to the village of Cröt and there joins the Avers valley road.

The tour can easily be extended to a two-day excursion with an overnight stay in the Avers. Return through the Bergalga valley or across the Pass da la Prasgnola.

From Soglio, you reach the Pass da Roda via the Pass da la Duana. About 500 m north of the pass, the trail to the Pass da Roda branches off to the northwest.Or you start in Casaccia, hike through the Val Maroz and the Val da la Duana and at the southern end of the latter you meet the fork that leads into the wide basin of the Pass da Roda with its many mountain lakes.
You walk across the meagre alpine pasture full of rocky humps until you meet the Prasignola valley. At this point you join the path that descends from the pass of the same name and follow it downwards to the plateau with the huts of Alp Sovrana (1995 m). Continue on the flat road past the small reservoir of Preda. Cars are allowed below the houses of Hohenhaus, but you are not far from the village of Cröt anyway. Here there are overnight accommodations and a post bus connection.
