The birth of the Martinsloch

The famous Martinsloch at the Tschingelhoren at 2600 m – visible from here. This erosion hole, which is almost 20 m in size, is located below the "magic line". Two zones of weakness intersect in the Martinsloch: a dark band of flysch rocks that is susceptible to erosion and a fissure in the limestone. As a result, the rock in this area could be removed more quickly and the Martinsloch was created.
