In safe conditions, the Strätscherhorn is a relatively easy ski tour in the farthest Safiental. The mountain scenery here is very unique. The steep slopes of Gelbhorn and Bruschghorn on the opposite side of the valley shape the landscape in a truly impressive way. The views from the summit are beautiful, no matter the angle.

Beschreibung

The tour begins steeply just behind the Turrahus, but the terrain flattens out above the Falätscher Hütta as you cross. Around 2200 m a.s.l., the terrain becomes briefly more challenging, requiring a good and safe route choice. At about 2400 m a.s.l., you emerge from a small gully onto a high plateau, which leads you from behind to the flat summit of Strätscherhorn.

The descent follows the often windblown, wide slope towards the east. With a bit of luck, you might find a few sheltered gullies filled with powder. At around 2300 meters above sea level, you leave the ridge and descend into the often powdery northeast-facing slopes. It’s important to pay attention to the wildlife protection zones in the lower part of the descent. There is only one narrow passage, which you must catch. After reaching the compensation basin, you return to the valley floor, first following the winter hiking trail and then the valley road back to Turrahus.

Geheimtipp

For a break and overnight stay, you can visit either Turrahus or Gasslihof. Both offer a cozy atmosphere and the chance to relax after a day in the mountains.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

Take the train to the RhB station Versam-Safien. Continue by post bus to the terminus Thalkirch, Turrahus

Anreise Information

Drive from Chur or Ilanz to Versam. Then turn into the Safiental valley and drive almost to the very end of the valley to Turrahus.
